Lost in the fog: More than 170 flights grounded due to inclement weather

HEAVY fog caused travel chaos yesterday with passengers facing long delays after planes were grounded.
More than 170 flights were cancelled at Heathrow Airport for safety reasons, while London City Airport also reported a number of cancellations and delays.
And the hazardous fog disrupted ferry services between Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.
But forecasters said the fog will lift today and should not be a threat to people travelling home for Christmas.
Leon Brown, meteorologist from the Weather Channel, said: “It looks as though it will become more unsettled in the run-up to Christmas. Wet and windy sums up the 24th to the 26th.”
