Theresa Stewart was furious when she overheard Santa’s accusation.
She said: “He asked my daughter how old she was and she said she was four.
“He said: ‘You are small for four, what did y
ou eat for breakfast?’ She said she had a sandwich.
“Then he said: ‘I’m going to report your mummy.’
“Obviously this meant social services."
Daughter Lily was visiting Santa in the Christmas grotto in the Eastgate shopping centre, Gloucester.
Theresa, of Tuffley, Gloucester, said Lily is 40in tall and weighs 2st 2lb.
“The health visitor has been to see Lily and she is fine. She has trouble eating, that’s all.”
A spokeswoman for the shopping centre said a verbal apology had been given over comments made “in jest”, but which were “poorly judged”.
But the actor playing the role of Father Christmas had not been sacked.
Theresa, 20, paid £5 for Lily to see Santa and a further £8 for a gift.
She said she had turned down a refund but feels a written apology would be more appropriate.
“It’s not about the money, but it’s not acceptable what he said to her,” she added.
